Wow..didnt realize this was based on a true story..seen this movie a few times on tv. Moving film..people should let others live their lives as they want..as long as its not illegal.Worth the time to watch.5/5
Whats going on? (in the movie) I couldnt see past the gruesome to feel anything.. I mean gross just gross =. I wish I could re-vote cause this movie deserves a 4/5 for catching the audience, kind of scared me too!
Some people are seriously stupid. Just because 90%, or even less, of the human population have boys that look, sound, and have boy parts and girls who look, sound, and have girl parts doesn't mean everyone else do. Why be so stupid to rape that kid in the movie? I swear, some people are extremely stupid to the point where they have no more self-control..-.-. Who does this? Like seriously..Who..? This movie wasn't even sad to me at the end, it irritated the hell out of me, personality.
True story and I'm so glad she won an Oscar for this role. No one could have done it like Hillary Swank. People speaking badly about this movie or say they don't understand it- are in my eyes most likely unwilling to except the premise of the movie and what actually happened as well as the gay community.
This movie is based on the true story of Brandon Teena who was born female as Teena Brandon and was shot dead in real life after a newspaper used Brandon's birthname in an article about him and two criminals (Lotter and Nissen) found out the truth about him and raped and murdered him.
In real life the 2 criminals who raped and murdered Brandon Teena are paying for what they have done...
Lotter was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to death and is currently on death row
Nissen was found guilty and is currently serving a life sentance in prison.
This is a good but sad movie and Brandon (Hilary Swank) looks really good looking in this movie.

It's not suppost to be funny, it's based on the true story of Brandon Teena who got shot dead in real life because he was born female and wanted to be male.

Yes, it's horrible what they show, but it's all true. And what happened to Teena deserves a lot more publicity.

I was liking it up until the rape scene there is no need for that in a movie!! Ecspecially one that graphic, you don't need to show the actual rape, there is no need, its sick! And then at the end the two rapists kill Brandon!, when they are the ones who should be shot, actually probably worse, this is a horribly sad movie!
sorry but I have to give this no stars just because of that one scene, seriously there was no need for it.
This is one of the most powerful movies of our time. That scene was in there because that type of thing happens in real life, and it did happen in real life. Movies are made to depict real things.. that's the point.
It's a good movie, but apparently, it doesn't tell the whole truth. The real Lana was interviewed and so was the mother of Teena and they both agreed that it didn't depict anything right. They were pretty mad, actually.

Lana said that the movie falsely portrays the fact that she continued her relationship with Teena.

and although Hillary did a remarkably good job at playing this role, she did kind of make me mad when she was taking her award for this role thanking Teena and stuff like she knew her well enough to talk about her. Like she knew every detail of her life and like she understood her sufferings.
I had only just heard about this movie a couple of months ago and after having watched it I was amazed at the story and the true events that had taken place.
As far as the move goes though I thought it was amazing. Hilary Swank did a fantastic job along with Chloe Sevingy. It was so heartbreaking. I suggest at least everyone gives it a watch once.
but this is a true story..of course the rape scene is necessary..if they changed what happen its not a true story movie anymore :D ..anyways but yeah the rape scene seems too brutal..i feel sorry for what happened with Brandon Teena :(
