Very true. Nobody was charged because it was the so called "White Man's Burden" to teach cleanliness and morals to people of other races and colour and it seems it still is.
Peace.
Was a great movie. I clench my teeth almost every second. Something never change.Painful, documantary drama.
~~Sitting Bull :
What treaty that the white man ever made with us have they kept? Not one. When I was a boy, the Sioux owned the world; the sun rose and set on their land; they sent ten thousand men to battle. Where are the warriors today? Who slew them? What white man can say I ever stole his land or a penny of his money? Yet they say I am a thief. What white woman, however lonely, was ever captive or insulted by me? Yet they say I am a bad Indian. What white man has ever seen me drunk? Who has ever come to me hungry and unfed? Who has ever seen me beat my wives or abuse my children? What law have I broken? Is it wrong for me to love my own? Is it wicked for me because my skin is red? Because I am a Sioux; because I was born where my father lived; because I would die for my people and my country? ~~
@sevenplants,
There are no "original" dwellers of North America. There are just those who have been here longer then others. The only focils are bones from modern humans (Homo sapiens). So that means that they could have only have traveled some time after the modern human evolutionary stage. Which has been estimated some 30.000-50.000 years ago. The large time in between varies due to the interpretation of the evidence.
Vir Publicus I'm not sure what you're referring to but I actually agree with everything you said. It's all a matter of defining the word original. In my view the first ones that got here and peopled the American continent are the original dwellers because before them there was no dwellers--human that is :-)
I am so in love with this movie,You can actually feel the Pains, Strengths, Deception & loss of Loved Ones our Native Brothers & Sisters were put through. This movie also shows how Proud & Strong Native People are & will remain. We as the Red Nation People need to make more movies like this one & remember Why we as Native will remain true to the ways of our ancestor
I started to watch and I personally heard many stories of how it was and through the years nothing has changed. It does not matter to many natives anymore, like myself. All we have left is our spiritual ways and beliefs. Thanks for reminding me why I dislike the "Long-Knives".
Awesome movie. I watch a lot of history and this movie will be one for my personal library. Everything about the movie was interesting!! well worth the watch (even with all the buffing).
definitely worth the watch. youku is very slow though. so be patient.
its a good movie to see it from the Native American's view. alot of misunderstandings on both sides. i wish it had been different, but it is what it is and the records show it.
Great movie..chronicles early american hatred. Touched on some points of genocide but still mainstream enough that the "regular" American will watch it and be outraged.
i cried for a week when i read the book.. i know this film cannot show the worst that was done though people should know. this was not ancient history, this was happening less than 150 years ago. watch the film, read the book and pray. some things should never be forgotten and can never be forgiven.
Although I find this movie touching, I do not like the fact it goes from subject to subject without that much detail, timewise or in material depth, except for the end. Even then, it does not mention over 400 indians perished, many being women, children and elders, and the U.S. government awarded 18 Medals of Honor to the soilders that killed them. I feel this movie is more about Charles Eastman than Sitting Bull, and that he is made to look the fool on several occasions. It also would have been better to have heard some about Crazy Horse, other than the one line that he was killed. Maybe so much really happened, the movie would be twice as long if more details were included.
I had never seen this movie till now an it breaks my heart. I am 1/4 Cherokee & 3/4 white, as a young girl in grade school i was teased & called half breed. I know noting about the ways of my people other then the white & I am ashamed of the white in me & hold my head in shame because of it.
mexica movement website.. that will make you cry for the blood our ancestors have poured onto a land what was not theirs, now it is swathed in filth. a land once so pure was raped along with it's people out of greed, lust and power. 100 million dead people, some purpousfully infected with smallpox on blankets that the 'founders of america' threw over children and watched the die. it was not their land to find.. it already belonged.. to the people that were there. i am filled with shame the same as what happened in australia to native aboriginals. white supremisists like albert pike, cecil rhodes, still to this day people like this want a white world, they're sick. it also seems strange that africans were to be vaccinated against infections.. then there was an aids epidemic!! wake up people.. what happened in this film, still happens today, iraq, iran, afghanistan, the american war machine needs stopping.. wake up.
im a native and this movie is just the best ever if made me so mad at points and made me cry at others i just have to say that this was the best movies i have ever seen about my people
Wonderfully done! The depth of the tragedy to the American Indians can not possibly be told in a mere one hour film and yet the director manages to evoke true emotion from the viewer. Adam Beach does an excellent job as usual. A movie worth taking a look at.
