stupid old movie. can we have links to the new version plz! after watching modern day movies with awesome special effects and having to settle for some pathetic old movie with ridiculous effects is so annoying! everytime something "creepy" happens the actors all look so neutral and expressionless. and every little uncreepy thing that happens, they focus on the actress's face for minutes and she has no expression on her face. everything just moves so slow!
I don't mean to sound unappreciative, but, in all honesty, I didn't like the old version.. I have liked classics like Nosferatu (F.W. Murnau), Dracula, Night of the Living Dead (The George Romero's original) and many more from the black and white film era, but this one didn't have that "je ne sais quoi" from other classic horror movies.. Even in the 20's they had better effects than the ones used in that movie, and, despite Vincent Price being in it, it just didn't do it for me. My humble opinion. I will be fair though and give it a 3/5, because for that time, it was very original.
Has a great setting, and brilliant start to the film but didn't like the story. Vincent Price is always excellent, not the best in this genre but still good. Wanted more chills 3/5..
I kid you not this movie took me 6 years to watch because I am such a big chicken at one point I made it to the scene

where the mad doctor entered Evelyn's room and did that freaky thing
and had to turn it off. I finally watched it this past Halloween and needless to say I loved it. I was interrested to find out that they used naked women to make the monster. If you pause the movie during some of the scenes you can make out the women. 4.5/5
This movie is so scary :( I haven't seen this movie since i was like 7 yrs old. But basically i didn't see it cuz i was hiding under a bunch of pillows lol but i'm gonna just.. watch it.. lmao i'm honestly so scared. I'm terrified of scary movies but i HAVE to watch them cuz i luv that scared feeling lol. But its gonna be scarier cuz im gonna watch this alone in my room :( Waah!:( Ok.. im gonna watch it now & no one reply to this calling me a baby or w/e lmao :P I act like one but just shut it ok? :P Ughh..
I Love It. It was the first film by Dark Castle Entertainment and every film so far by them i loved. Others include GHOST SHIP, HOUSE OF WAX, RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, THE REAPING, GOTHIKA. My rating is 5/5
Ya just gotta love Vincent Price.. In the 40's and 50's radio and TV he was considered a king of horror. It's amazing how far horror films have come since then..but you have to remember, there are far less censoring laws and much more special effects available now than there were 50 years ago. So, considering the age of this movie..
I rated it 4 stars.
