I just found it on Youtube & watched it. I was disappointed. Maybe I was not in the right kind of mood or something, cause I found it rather boring & also confusing in parts. I couldn't even finish it.
Very powerful movie! Steven Speilberg is probably the best director of our time or perhaps of all time. The image in the final scene of the twin towers (World Trade) was extremely haunting. I give this movie 9 out of 10. I'm outta here.
This is a very powerful movie based on the assassination of the eleven Jewish athletes at the Munich Olympic villa in 1972. Some of the events on the movie actually took place, other were just fiction.
Munich is a 2005 semi-fictionalized film about the Israeli government's secret retaliation after the 1972 Munich massacre of Israeli Olympic athletes by Black September terrorists. The film stars Eric Bana and was co-produced and directed by Steven Spielberg.
The film shows how a squad of assassins, led by former Mossad agent Avner (Eric Bana) tracks down and kills a list of Black September members thought to be responsible for the eleven Israeli athletes' murders. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture.
The movie portrays the secret and brutal world of counter-terrorists agents operating all over the world serving most of the largest democratic countries. They don't have an identity and if killed will not be recognized as a counter-terrorist agent. It is a very lonely and dangerous life.
During the dialogs of the movie, Steven Spielberg points out that there is no end to this war between Palestinians and Jews. The killing will go on forever. For every terrorist killed, more fanatics will take their place magnifying the terror and the brutality of their clandestine warfare.
At the end of the movie, you can see the City of New York with the two World Trade Center towers on the background, which no longer exist due to a terrorist attack. To this very day, the war is going on in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, India, Sri Lanka and God knows how many other countries.
The movie is intense, full of action, suspense and an inner view of how the Mossad of Israel works. I would recommend it if you want to understand the usefulness of the struggle going on in the Middle East.
Version 2 is Mega-Video which is a pretty good play except for the fact that it cuts you off after 2/3 through the movie unless you decide to buy the full service.
I swear I watched this movie named Sword of Giddeon and everything they do in that movie they do in this one.
I never knew Sword of Giddeon was based on the true events of Munich, and that this was a remake of the original, interesting.
A lot of secret spy assasinations and some all out action scenes. A very good movie and a nice addition to historical action flicks, I have always seen munich as a sad event in history.
If you are looking into a view of the real München Massacre then you should see this film some of the elements of the events are missing but for a film it is an excellent portrayal.
The Movie is Great and it has all the elements (cars,clothes,appliances) that suggest a 1970's backdrop. The only problem was the link, it had about a 4 sec. delay in the audio which made the movie frustrating to watch. But still a great movie.
