probably one of the worst childrens movies ever made!! to be honest im suprised it was chosen to be a kids film with its heavy topic and controversial subject. even the all star cast couldnt save this one! and im not suprised they decided not to make another one 2/10 (and that only for the special effects)
actually it was aimed at children - it was for 12 year olds and up - i dont see alot of married couples and serious movie critiques going to watch this one - it was made for the family audience.
no, there probably will not be a part 2. the girl who played Lyra is too old, it has been postponed indefinitely. which means there is almost no chance of it being made, which really really sucks.
i was suggested this movie by someone.good thing cause i would never watch it otherwise.not my type probably cause i m 22.but on the other end the concept, acting and special effects are great.

i don t get why the only demon that changes form is lyra.
its because she is still a kid. other kids daemons change in the film as well. its because kids don't know who they are yet, they are not set in their personalities and can still be affected and changed by the world. after puberty, then the daemons settle into one form. Pan and Lyra haven't settled yet is all.
If there is no sequel then this movie is a waste of time. I liked it you watch it and you do want to know more because there is no real conclusion. It is a good film and if the sequel (if there is one) lives up to expectations then this will be a great story.
ive sat through alot of boring movies in my day, but i found myself completely unable to finish this movie, dont get me wrong, this was not a bad movie, just the fact that

was a bit to cliche for me, its been done a million times, if u want to watch this movie, dont.. watch the chronicles of narnia instead, similar plot line only better, maybe about 10% of this movie at the most is original at all, im sure if ur a child or this is the first fantasy movie that u have ever seen u might get a kick out of it, otheriwse dont waste ur time, acting was decent, sp fx were good, story was tired and played out.. i ended up becoming more interested in re-arranging my desktop than this movie
Very enjoyable. I read all 3 books a couple of years ago; all of them are fantastic, I would recommend them to everyone.
Anyway, about the film.. As an adaptation of the novel, it leaves out alot..it could've been a great deal longer for sure.
I believe every book is better than its film version though, so I don't let it bother me too much. Viewing this as just a fantasy film makes it more fun for me.
Some nice visuals along the way, and a superb cast; Daniel Craig, Christopher Lee, Sam Elliott, and Nicole Kidman who, might I add, looks great in this.
Also, the armoured bear is so cool..especially with Ian McKellen's voice lol.
Good film. 4/5 stars, would watch it again.

I was surprised by this movie. I did not think I would like it.. but I quite enjoyed it. I usually do not care for nicole kidman's talents, however she performs beautifully in this movie.. Oh, I do not think that it is playing negatively towards religion persay, but rather points out the curruption in ORGANIZEDreligion and the sort..
This movies is a horrible rendition of the book. The books are called "His Dark Materials" if anyone wants to know, an all 3 books are awesome books. Alittle antichristian *cough*. The books are so much better, they left so much out in this movie that its hard to get into it. Very Dissapointed
