The Academy-Award winning Cohen brothers are at it again!! Look, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think that this movie was the one of the Cohen brothers best. Everyone was spankin' awesome in the movie!!
The Coens are my favourite directors, but what the hell were they thinking? Fancy remaking one of the best ever Ealing comedies, and replacing geniuses like Sir Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers with the likes of Marlon Wayans.
The original was a simply charming movie and the joke was that she was such an innocent, helpless old lady who had only the luck of the devil and her aggressors consciences to protect her. Not some big momma going round slapping people.
You should be able to 'list' certain movies, like buildings, so nobody can mess with them. Instantly forgettable remake of an unforgettable classic.
I didn't think anyone could improve on a remake of a Peter Sellers movie, but this was really great. And then they did this whole southern gothic theme!! Great cast. Great direction. Great rewrite of an already good script.
good film, pretty darn funny, great acting etc. ending was a little stupid (just like thrown in different ways to die), other than that- great. Oh, the overexaggerated speech of Tom Hanks was very hard to understand, crazy useless words (mostly) and in an gobbledee gobbledee gook kind of accent.
AND, well, I hate remakes to be honest. But knowing that this is by Coens I gave it a shot. pretty entertaining.
